About the Presentation

Agile software development practices taken as a whole have a clear bias toward software development, but taking the practices individually, each practice can be applied to improve any project undertaking. This session covers the Agile practices that are applicable outside of software development and how to most effectively employ them.

About Steve Blais

Steve Blais, PMP, PMI-PBA, is an author, consultant, teacher and coach who has over 54 years’ experience in Information Technologies working in all areas of the industry from software development to business analysis to security to general management. He has also been in executive positions for several start-up companies and several software and educational services organizations. His current projects include digital transformation and cloud technology in financial organizations in SE Asia, data analytics projects in the Middle East and agile transformations the US.

Steve Blais has designed and deployed financial services systems around the world as well as retail sales, warehousing and inventory, and logistics systems. He has been instrumental in the adoption of Agile in a number of companies in the US. He has managed security groups for several US government agencies.

He is a regular contributor to Business Analysis Times, Modern Analyst, and other publications. He has presented the keynote addresses at project management and other conferences around the world since 2010 including Tokyo (2012), Sao Paolo, Brazil (2011), Dubai (several, last in 2019) and Singapore (2014).

He is the author of Business Analysis: Best Practices for Success (John Wiley, 2011) and co-author of Business Analysis for Practitioners: A Practice Guide (PMI, 2014) and a member of the core team for the Business Analyst Body of Knowledge, V3 (IIBA, 2015). His new book, The Digital Transformation of the Business Analyst, will be published by the IIBA later this year.
