The Power of Perception: The Key to Communicate Effectively in a Globally Diverse World

About the Presentation

Organizations must operate in a culturally diverse environment, which can lead to misinterpretations and communication issues, often ending with conflict and lack of productivity.

We all have a unique vantage point of how we view the world. How we perceive ourselves and others, influences how and what we think and believe, which, in turn, influences our behaviors.  The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) found 70% of international ventures fail because of cultural differences.

Organizations like IBM and Coca-Cola found perception so critical they created specific programs to teach task vs relationships, direct and indirect communication, and decision-making styles to adapt to cultures at home and abroad. If we are to engage others, both of our own and other cultures, it is essential that we become more cognizant and more self-aware of our own perceptions and those of others.

Dr. Diane Hamilton’s ground-breaking research determined the four factors that impact the perception process. Learn how to improve communication, and be more engaged, productive, and innovative at work.

In this webinar participants will learn:

  • How perception is an EPIC process (evaluation, prediction, interpretation, correlation)
  • The impact of culture, gender, and intelligence (EQ & IQ)
  • Strategies for overcoming the factors that keep us stuck in only seeing our perspective

Key Takeaways

  • Identify and avoid common myths that can hinder the journey to Agility
