About the Presentation

In this presentation, Ayman will discuss the impact and challenges of managing projects related to pandemics and health emergency outbreaks at a global and national level. He will also discuss opportunities and challenges of leveraging technology and AI to enhance the public health intelligence process. He will present four diverse project examples, each at different stages of the project cycle, as well as different scales, complexities, and management challenges. Attendees can expect to learn lessons on how to leverage communities and stakeholders as well as about open-source software as an enabler for global collaboration.

About Ayman Badr

Mr. Ayman Badr is an international manager with a proven track record managing global teams in both the humanitarian and private sector. As the Head of the Project Management Office at the World Health Organization (WHO), he leads a multidisciplinary team to drive surveillance and public health intelligence strategic priorities through the systematic use of project management practices. During his time at WHO, Ayman has also led the Health Emergencies Digital Program, successfully delivering digital solutions related to disease surveillance, contact tracing, emergency operations and country preparedness. 

Prior to joining WHO, Ayman worked for the United Nations Office of Project Services (UNOPS), implementing projects in various locations including the occupied Palestinian territory, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Haiti, and Myanmar. He was also a Project Management Practice Advisor for UNOPS in their HQ office in Copenhagen.  

He holds a master’s in business administration, international diploma in humanitarian assistance as well as several industry certifications that cover traditional project management, agile disciplines, portfolio management, and design thinking.
