Microsoft® Project Goes Agile

By Keith Wilson

Abstract

Wait, am I proposing developing detailed Gantt Charts for an Agile, Scrum or Kanban project?

Will using Microsoft Project for an Agile project be contrary with the Agile manifesto?

No, and no!

We are not going to build a detailed Gantt chart or attempt to plan sprints in the future. But in this white paper, we will explore the new Agile capabilities in the Microsoft Project Online Desktop Client to manage sprints and Kanban boards.

We will then illustrate Microsoft Project Agile/Scrum:

  • Views
  • Tables
  • Reports

By reading this white paper, you will learn how to create new Agile projects or apply Agile views to your existing waterfall projects. We will show you how to track your projects using Scrum and Kanban methodologies, including viewing task boards, creating backlogs, and tracking sprints, as well as viewing reports based on Agile statistics. Does this sound good to you? Okay, let’s go!

Please note that the feature and capabilities presented in the white paper are only available in the 2016 Microsoft Project Online Desktop Client.
